Conclusion-Zach Sherman can't shut up

Now, before all of you come after me for being a complete a**hole, I had been gone for 6 months and I was unmotivated to keep doing the show, with the whole season in limbo, the overarching theme with these interviews was COVID, COVID, AND FREAKING MORE COVID, every single freaking podcast had the overarching theme of beating a dead horse and asking about how the wrestlers improved over what feels like an infinite lockdown,  What I cam to the conclusion is that every single college wrestler is a motivated and fit machine that's going to be the .1% of the population that doesn't spend the lockdown period Watching TV and eating junk food until the cows come home, and even if they did, they sure aren't about to admit it with a camera in their face during an interview. I needed someone with energy, thoughts, and quite frankly someone with the inability to shut up. Who better to turn to than Former Jersey, Free Flowing Florida Tar Heel Zach Sherman? When I started the show all those months back, this was exactly the model episode I had envisioned in my head, a discussion-type interview where the wrestler can talk about whatever the hell they want, and I ask questions based almost purely on my intuition. Well, 17 episodes in, I don't want to say I reached the holy grail, but I think we got pretty damn close... I learned so freaking much during the interview. I have come to realize the shocking differences in the way the wrestlers articulate the mental aspect of the game. Vito famously said "mind games don't exist" versus Zach who confidently said wrestling is 100% mind games and a constant psych battle. Neither approach and philosophy are wrong, but it just shows that there is so much more to the psychology of wrestling than "being mentally tough". I'm spoiled for choice when it comes to clips I should highlight, but I've settled on this clip where Zach explains his train of thought throughout a match. I don't know if it's my lack of first-hand experience within the sport, but I find this stuff absolutely mind-blowing stuff. I had done my due diligence beforehand and knew that he was a marketing and comms major, and I always make it a point to talk about college majors with all my guests because I think that can actually be one of the most revealing factors as far as people's personality. Much to my surprise, Zach specifically is interested in sports marketing and promotion, from there the conversation quickly turned to wrestling politics in about 10 seconds. I swear that I didn't pay Zach anything to say what he did, In all seriousness, other than me yelling into the mic a few times out of pure excitement and the usual grotesque voice that I have-I could not have been happier with the way this one turned out. Zach may think he has the brain of a child still, but he is the first person that I've talked to truly willing to speak his mind on absolutely everything(assuming you don't count the tech mishap with the Leeth interview XD), which is so refreshing in this modern-day and age. However, my point from the very beginning was that in order for wrestling and specifically college wrestling, it must be marketed and run by wrestlers because those are the people that have the most sophisticated understanding of both the economic side of the sport as well as the administrative duties of college sports. So no pressure Zach, but the survival of the sport will be solely contingent on what innovative ideas this generation of hypermodern trailblazers can come up with. It was an absolute pleasure having you on.
